School Circle's support shall be so valuable to the league, raising the profile of our sport and connecting us to a media team who can capture the highlights each round."
"Dodgeball in the south west region is growing rapidly, it is a very exciting time. The standard of play increases every year and those in year 5/6 at junior school are now progressing through to play in the secondary competition in year 8. We are looking forward to the new academic year where the qualifying rounds will begin again."
On Sunday 11th November, the Bath Spartan Dodgeball Club hosted their annual Remembrance Sunday Tournament at Hayesfield School in Bath. 10 teams from across the country competed for the trophy and raised a great amount of money in the process. This was the third year of the tournament and teams said "this was the best year yet!"
After many hours of top quality dodgeball, we had worked out who had placed 1st all the way through to 10th. There were many brilliant matches throughout the tournament; Plymouth Krakens vs The Pickle Ricks, Bath University vs Carmarthen Wizards in the 3rd Place Play off, and Exeter Sharks vs Surrey Uni 1.
The tournament culminated in an incredibly tense and dramatic final between the Rhonda Dragons and Bath Spartans. The match was very tight on the scoreboard which led to an overtime set which the Spartans managed to get the better of and take home the trophy.
All the dodgeball was for a wonderful cause - the Poppy Appeal - and the total donation came to just over £460 which is fantastic! We are already looking forward to next years tournament. Get in touch if you would like to join the Bath Spartans, they are always looking for new members and your first training session is free.

In the New Year we shall be organizing and running the Level 3 School Games at the University of the West of England.
This year we shall see Primary School teams from across Bath, North East Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Bristol compete. For the first time we shall also be running a secondary school competition for years 7 & 8.
We are very excited for this event and eagerly look forward to it each year. Our Head Coach James said: "This is the highlight of the year for me. Seeing young people from across the region giving it their all is so brilliant to see. Dodgeball is such a great sport and events like the school games are an inspiration to those who compete".
Dodgeball refers to a collection of team sports in which players on two teams try to throw balls at each other while avoiding being hit themselves.
There are many variations of the game, but generally the main objective of each team is to eliminate all members of the opposing team by hitting them with thrown balls, catching a ball thrown by a member of the opposing team, or forcing them to move outside the court boundaries when a ball is thrown at them.
Depending on the rules of a particular game, a ball in the possession of a player can be used to block incoming balls thrown by the opposing team. Depending on the rules of the game being played, if a player gets a dodgeball knocked out of their hands from an opposition throw, or drops the dodgeball when it is used to deflect oncoming balls, the player is eliminated.
Once all players on either team are eliminated, the game is over.
"We had a birthday dodgeball party for twenty 10- and 11-year olds at the Bath Sports Centre. The party was absolutely brilliant with loads of different dodgeball games, and all the children really loved it. Was really impressed by James who has a quiet authority about him and managed to keep all the children highly engaged and moving for the whole party. Thank you James." - Jennifer
